Matrimony Points Explained: What Is Free and What Is Optional

Matrimony Points are often misunderstood as a membership fee. They are not. This guide explains exactly what they do, the two kinds of points you may hold, how referral gift points work, and what happens if you ever decide to buy some.

What is free

• Creating an account and a complete matrimonial profile, with photos
• Searching profiles and seeing your suggested matches (My Matches)
• The traditional 11 Porutham compatibility check and, where enabled, numerology
• Signing your matrimonial contract
• Blocking and reporting members
• Asking the administration for Contact Access, which is free when granted

None of these requires points. A member with an empty wallet can use all of them.

What points are used for

Contact details are protected by default: they never appear in search results or on a public profile. Once you have signed your matrimonial contract, you can unlock one specific profile's phone or WhatsApp with points, where the feature is switched on:

• the number of points is shown on the profile and confirmed before anything is deducted;
• nothing is deducted for your own profile, a blocked profile, a profile without contact details, or a profile you can already see through Contact Access;
• an unlocked profile stays available to you — you are never charged twice for the same profile.

Two kinds of points in your wallet

Your Matrimony Points Wallet shows two balances:

• Gift points — points offered by Matrimony.fr, for example through the referral programme or by the administration. They can be used as soon as you have signed your contract, even during the seven-day period, and they have no cash value.
• Purchased points — points you paid for, if you ever buy any.

When you unlock a contact, gift points are always used first. Points do not expire, but they cannot be transferred to another member or withdrawn as money.

How referral gift points work

When the referral programme is active, your wallet page shows your personal referral code and link, and the number of points on offer.

1. Share your link with a friend or relative who is looking for a partner.
2. They register through the link (or enter your code while creating their profile) and complete the qualifying step set by the site, such as completing their profile.
3. You and they each receive gift points. Each person's points are credited once that person has signed their own matrimonial contract — immediately if they have already signed.

A few rules keep it fair: you cannot refer yourself, each new account can be referred only once, and the site may limit the number of rewards per member.

Buying points, if you want to

Buying points is never required. If you choose to, it becomes possible only after the seven-day period that follows your contract signature, and only when purchases are open on the site. Then:

1. choose an amount — the conversion rate and the number of points are shown before you pay;
2. check the order summary and accept the Terms of Sale;
3. tick two separate confirmations: (A) that you request immediate performance, and (B) that you have noted the legal consequence for your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed;
4. pay on Stripe's secure page — Matrimony.fr never sees or stores your full card number.

Points are credited once Stripe confirms the payment and can be used immediately. If prices change later, the change applies only to future purchases.

Refunds and your rights

Buy only the points you need. Points that have been used are not refundable, and gift points have no cash refund value. Any cash refund can never exceed the amount you actually paid. Mandatory legal rights remain reserved, a payment taken in error is refunded, and complaints can go to consumer mediation, as described in the Terms of Sale.

What Matrimony.fr does not do

• No subscription and no automatic renewal.
• No transfers of points between members, and no cash withdrawal of points.
• No points needed to sign your contract or to use the free features.

In short

Matrimony Points are an optional way to reach one specific family's contact details after you have signed your free contract. Many members never buy any: they use the free features, points they were given, or Contact Access granted by the administration.
